GIS - Geographic Information System Mapping

Geographic Information System (GIS) is a computer-based tool that is used to create a vast database of information compiled from various county agencies to build maps and track information. GIS is an essential instrument in building a united government.

The Adams Soil and Water Conservation District GIS office is committed to coordinating with and supporting all Adams County offices in an effort to maximize the use and availability of this versatile tool.

Earth Resources Information Network (ERIN) is an evolving network of tools that facilitate inclusion of Ohio’s soil, water and natural resource data into private and public land use decisions.

ERIN provides this data in a single location, with a simple format and in conjunction with powerful analysis tools. Analysis tools include measure, selection, and terrain analysis tools. Maps can be customized with text, images and shapes.  Work created while using the ERIN GIS can be saved or shared with others.

The "dig" and "survey" reports can get you soils, floodplain, DRASTIC, census and much more information quicker than you can get a cup of coffee! Simply visit and click on the "dig and survey reports". The  video will give you a 3 minute tutorial on creating these reports.

ERIN is brought to you by the Adams Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) and the Ohio Division of Soil and Water Resources.
